‪#‎EPRDF‬: The Oromo People demand for Afaan Oromo to be made the Official Working Language of the Ethiopian Federal Government!
The government that does not speak the language of the people it claims to govern neither do speak for that people nor represent that people. The Oromo people demand the Ethiopian government that speaks their language and that represents their interests.

The Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front(EPRDF), the ruling party of Ethiopia, must formally commit itself this election year to make Afaan Oromo, the single most widely spoken language in Ethiopian and the fourth largest African language, the Official working language of the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the two charter cities of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa.

The EPRDF government must formally and legal abolish the exclusion and assimilation policies of the settler regimes that existed in pre-1991 Ethiopia, and still remains in effect in the federal government and the two settler cities of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa.

Ethiopia that excludes the Oromo People, who constitutes over 40% of the Ethiopia population, from the Federal Government offices and from two of its largest cities through its Amharic only language policy cannot and will not survive in the 21st Century.

The survival of Ethiopia as multinational and multicultural country requires the formal abolition of the segregationist and exclusionary Amharic only language policy that was institutionalized to exclude mainly the Oromo people from the Ethiopian government run institutions and its bureaucracies.

The EPRDF government and all other multinational political parties in Ethiopia must commit themselves and honor the sacrifices of tens of thousands of heroes and heroines who sacrificed their life to create a federal and democratic multi-lingual and multi-cultural country by making Afaan Oromo the official language of Ethiopia on the same footing as Amharic.
